First Aid SOS – Problems with Braces
1. A bracket is loose
If a bracket has come loose from the tooth and is still hanging on arch wire, please leave everything as it is and make an appointment with our practice as soon as possible so that we can reattach the bracket.
2. A bow is loose or stings
You can temporarily cover the area with wax. However, please do not try to cut the wire with pliers or other devices. Make an appointment quickly so that we can reattach the arch professionally.
3. My fixed retainer is loose
If the connection between the tooth and the fixed retainer has become loose, this point should be reattached as quickly as possible. In this case, please make an appointment in the practice immediately.
Warning! If defects in the retainer are not repaired immediately, new tooth displacements can occur, in which the teeth move back into their old position. A new retainer or possibly even a new multi-band treatment is then necessary, which is associated with additional costs.
